Challenge
Create and execute a capstone brief that shows the skills you've learned as an undergrad. Define a clear project statement, set at least three researched constraints, and identify one specific outcome. Make sure your decisions are informed by research. Your project will be evaluated on its relevance, effectiveness, and the quality of your final design work.

Solution/Approach
TAKE 5 is an app that facilitates a safe community and an atmosphere for healthy conversation and education on mental health for student-athletes. The UI/UX must be intuitive and inclusive to deliver the information in a way that is easily digestible given the heaviness mental health topics often carry.

Problem
Mental health awareness and personal identity growth among college student athletes is a topic that has been making its’ importance known across the nation, but is slow to be addressed in a way that brings direct and continued impact to students in need.
Mental health awareness and personal identity growth among college student athletes is a topic that has been making its’ importance known across the nation, but is slow to be addressed in a way that brings direct and continued impact to students in need.
Research shows the student-athlete experience can cause extra stress and unexpected mental hardships. Due to the negative stigmas surrounding mental health, students often push their mental struggles aside. Take 5 intends to make space for fulfilling connections and conversations within the communities already present on a student’s campus, discussing shared experiences and finding comfort.

Asking for help is a superpower anyone can have but only some people use. It is brave to ask for help. Mentors can help change our lives if we let them.

The Solution
Take 5 is an app for student-athletes in college or who recently graduated that provides a positive space for mental health awareness and personal identity growth. Through articles from trusted mental health professionals and personal stories from professional athletes, users will explore topics and learn about what mental health could mean for them or for a teammate. By bringing more awareness to these often hushed topics such as depression, anxiety, and suicide, we hope those who join the Take 5 community will learn how they can help themselves and their teammates beyond the basic skills of their sport.
